According to international studies, Taiwan's fossil fuel subsidies in the power system amount to about 0.3% of GDP, which is higher in most developed countries. However, in the recent adjustment of energy prices, it did not proceed from the perspective of removing fossil fuel subsidies, leading to a focus of social discussion that shifted to disputes over the operating performance of state-owned enterprises.

This research project proposes the following two research goals:

1. Analyze the policy discussions and trends of international removal of fossil fuel subsidies, and their impact on global greenhouse gas reduction and sustainable development.

2. Evaluate the amount of Taiwanese fossil fuel subsidies and propose how Taiwan can achieve the goal of removing fossil fuel subsidies through a strategy of rationalizing energy prices.
